Drummond, Mississippi Controversy, North Birmingham Bribery Case, Southern Company, Spotlight on Balch & Bingham
We’re Back! Get Ready for Retirements, Resignations, Regulatory Investigations, More Alleged Racism, and a Rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal.
Happy New Year! After a brief hiatus, BanBalch.com is back. A lot of news is happening in the background and the Southern Company criminal enterprise appears to be trying to clean up (or cover up) their trail of carcasses and human excrement in their million-dollar campaign of fear and intimidation against innocent families, minorities, and us, the CDLU. Balch & Bingham, the embattled and alleged racist law firm, is still in turmoil as Managing Partner Stan Blanton gloats about make-believe diversity awards while promoting four all-white attorneys as partners this month. Southern Company CEO Chris Womack has hit, and Alabama…

The Stench of Lies and Criminal Acts: Southern Company Racketeering Enterprise Successfully Erodes Alabama Judiciary
An employment matter? That is a large spoonful of human waste. Two-time Pulitzer Prize winning journalist John Archibald has ripped the legal mockery and lies of a Southern Company stooge blocking access to ex-Drummond executive David Roberson’s $75 million civil lawsuit against embattled law firm Balch& Bingham and Drummond Company. Southern Company’s criminal racketeering enterprise is in full-throttle, on overdrive. In a skewering, Archibald writes: You want to know what happened when a former coal company executive – one convicted in the bribery of former Alabama Rep. Oliver Robinson – sued his powerful bosses and their powerful lawyers for putting him in…

Another One Bites the Dust! Ex-Balch Attorney and Alleged Pedophile Espy Pleads Guilty
Another ex-Balch attorney is headed to federal prison. According to the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama this late afternoon, Chase T. Espy, 36, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. Espy will be sentenced in January. According to the U.S. Attorney: The plea agreement filed states the investigation was initiated when Espy engaged in online chats with undercover law enforcement whom Espy believed was a 15-year-old girl. Upon being arrested, Espy’s cell phone was seized, and a search warrant was obtained. From this search, approximately 69 videos and four images of child sexual abuse…

Breaking News: Balch Attorney Commits Suicide; Federal Investigation Rocks Balch and Southern Company; Crosswhite Out?
Federal Judge Abdul K. Kallon resigned a week ago. Last Thursday, two Assistant U.S. Attorneys allegedly resigned, now yesterday sources told us and we confirmed this morning that Balch & Bingham partner William Dice Lineberry, known to many as “Bo,” committed suicide and died early yesterday. Lineberry was the Balch lawyer who helped set up the money laundering entity Alliance for Jobs and the Economy (AJE) in the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal. Former Balch partner Joel I. Gilbert and ex-Drummond executive David Roberson were convicted in the scandal and are currently in federal prison. Hours after his death by suicide,…

Righteous or Corrupt Verdict? SCOTUS Allows Convictions to Stand; More Indictments Coming?
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States denied a petition for a Writ of Certiorari for ex-Balch & Bingham partner Joel I. Gilbert. The same goes for ex-Drummond executive David Roberson. Gilbert is serving 5 years in federal prison while Roberson is serving 30 months. Now that the crimes in the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal have been affirmed and all legal appeals have been exhausted, are more criminal indictments coming? After their criminal convictions, Assistant U.S. Attorney George Martin, the lead prosecutor of the North Birmingham Bribery Case stated: We’re happy for the citizens of Birmingham that someone is…

Is Balch Duping the City of Auburn into Wasting Thousands of Taxpayer Dollars?
The local residents of Auburn are baffled. Why were Balch & Bingham consultants so hung up on denouncing in public a proposed NAACP submitted redistricting map as invalid instead of having city officials sit down with the Civil Rights entity and find common ground and a potential resolution? The answer could be money. Balch looks like they want to see a brutal legal fight so the alleged racist law firm could be hired by the City of Auburn to defend the indefensible and drain the city coffers of thousands of dollars. Darmon Walker, the Balch consultant, helped the State of…

Did Balch Intentionally Screw Gilbert? Former Top Partner Now Mowing the Lawn in Prison
Ex-Balch & Bingham partner Joel I. Gilbert has been assigned gardening responsibilities at the Federal Prison Camp located at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Now that legacy Balch partner Rob Fowler dumped the once-prestigious firm for a job at a coal facility that currently is not operating, insiders are curious what internal strife is happening at Balch to cause Fowler to run to the emergency exit. Sources tell us that Gilbert may have been intentionally screwed by his own law firm, just like ex-Drummond executive David Roberson appeared to be screwed as the “fall guy” by Drummond. The…

Ex-Balch Partner and Ex-Drummond Executive Must Report to Federal Prison Before Halloween
We are told that convicted felon and Balch-made millionaire Joel I. Gilbert and ex-Drummond Executive David Roberson must report to federal prison before the end of October. The news is devastating for Balch as they have been hammered in recent weeks by an alleged pedophile arrest of an ex-Balch attorney, who solicited a child online. With an alleged elderly exploitation scandal, an alleged housing assistance debacle in Mississippi, and allegations of racism rocking the embattled firm, Balch is hurting from all sides. Images of the convicted felons entering prison will sadly not rehabilitate Balch’s damaged and tarnished reputation. Gilbert is…

En Banc Denied Unanimously; Roberson Rushed to Hospital and Now Recovering from Emergency Surgery
The criminal convictions in the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal stand solid. Last week, the entire U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit unanimously denied an en banc rehearing of the convictions of ex-Balch & Bingham partner Joel I. Gilbert and ex-Drummond executive David Roberson. On Saturday, when David Roberson went to visit his son who is in college, the older Roberson was rushed to the hospital. An emergency surgery was performed to remove an intestinal blockage allegedly caused by the enormous, unsurmountable stress. Stress and anxiety are linked to gastrointestinal problems, including blockage. And who wouldn’t be stressed and…

Devastated! Roberson Family Utterly Destroyed; “Set Up” Allegations Grow
In six months, ex-Drummond executive David Roberson will have to report to federal prison. After having to sell the family home and all his personal possessions in a humiliating estate sale, Roberson will no longer receive monthly social security checks once he reports to prison. His family will be broke. Devastated. What will this mean to his autistic son? What could this do to his wife Anna who has attempted suicide twice? His daughter is a teacher. Will she survive the emotional toll? Roberson, a biologist, saved Drummond Company over $100 million during his employment. Regardless of one’s opinion on…

Breaking News: U.S. Appeals Court Affirms Criminal Convictions of Roberson and Gilbert; Balch Skewered
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit affirmed the criminal convictions of ex-Balch partner Joel I. Gilbert and ex-Drummond executive David Roberson in the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal. The court issued a 37-page opinion in the unanimous 3-0 decision. The court skewered Balch & Bingham, writing: Although Appellants attempt to paint the agreement between Balch and the Oliver Robinson Foundation as some sort of permissible advocacy campaign, as indicated Gilbert testified that the Foundation was the only entity asked to submit a proposal and that Gilbert and the Balch firm did not do any due diligence on the…

Podcasts on Colombia Murders and North Birmingham Knocks Wind Out of Drummond Company
While the heirs of Drummond Company hope to diversify their holdings and possibly sell their enormous coal operation in Colombia, Vice Media has stirred international intrigue in a multi-episode podcast series called, “The Crisis.” The podcasts have come at the worst time for Drummond Company. The podcasts come just weeks after the 20th anniversary of the murders of two Colombian labor leaders who worked for Drummond Company, one of whom was shot dead in front of his Drummond colleagues. In addition, now, today, Colombia is being rocked by daily and violent protests. As Reuters reported hours ago: The Andean country…

Drummond, the Roberson Shooting, and Colombia
“At no time have we ever been involved in illegal activities or in relationships with illegal groups.” –Drummond Company We have always said that we have no bones to pick with Drummond Company. We believe the company was misled by embattled law firm Balch & Bingham and their convicted felon and ex-partner Joel I. Gilbert in the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal. We also believe former Drummond CEO Mike Tracy foolishly marched goose-step with Balch and made a mistake firing David Roberson when the company had vowed to stand by their loyal employee. Now comes the shooting at David Roberson last…

Why Did Mike Tracy Become Disloyal to a Friend and a Colleague?
[This post was originally published on July 22, 2019. Now that civil court proceedings in the Drummond case are moving forward tomorrow morning, questions remain to be answered. Drummond, like other former Balch clients, needs to demonstrate sensible independence from Balch. Tracy abruptly “retired” a year ago, but his alleged actions are still stunning.] Drummond Company President Mike Tracy vowed unequivocally to back his friend, his co-worker David Roberson a year ago, releasing the following statement: We are disappointed by the jury’s decision to convict our employee, David Roberson. While we respect the judicial process, we consider David to be…

Oliver Robinson: From Prisoner to Key Witness
Disgraced ex-Alabama State Representative Oliver Robinson was released from federal prison one week ago today due to concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to al.com. Robinson was given over $360,000 in bribes in a criminal scheme born in the offices of Balch & Bingham to suppress African-Americans in North Birmingham from having their toxic property tested by the EPA. Robinson had been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison. Ex-Drummond Executive David Roberson and ex-Balch & Bingham partner Joel I. Gilbert have also been sentenced to federal prison although their cases are currently on appeal. Returning to home confinement, Robinson…
