Special Message of Hope
To our dear readers, this is our last post of the year and we wish you and yours a most blessed and Merry Christmas and all the best in 2021. We will return in January. The CDLU is busy not only fighting corruption and abuse of the judicial system, we continue helping the sick and the dying while spurring new projects that fight against unsavory corporations. For several months now, we have been investigating deplorable abuses in the financial sector that should spur international headlines sometime next year. To our friends and readers at Alabama Power, Drummond Company, and Balch…

Eye of Federal Investigators? Crosswhite, Drummond Family, and Balch’s Biggest Stooge
All that was missing was a brown paper bag. On Friday evening, 48 hours after the original filing, the Alabama Supreme Court denied Drummond Company’s emergency motion to stay discovery in ex-Drummond executive David Roberson’s $75 million civil lawsuit. Depositions, production of documents, and discovery shall proceed in the rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Case. The uncontrolled panic continues. Let’s be frank: the rebirth has created a stir because the smelly and decaying skeletons are about to come out of the closet in relationship to alleged dirty bribes, corruption, and collusion. Sources tell us that Alabama Power’s outside criminal…

Rebirth Causes Uncontrolled Panic in Past 48 Hours; Scrutiny Escalating
We are not surprised by the uncontrolled panic exhibited by Drummond Company and Alabama Power in the past 48 hours caused by the rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Case. But still, the developments are stunning. On Wednesday evening, Drummomd Company filed an emergency motion to stay discovery in the rebirth case with the Alabama Supreme Court before the local judge in Jefferson County had even ruled on their emergency motion. Drummond attempted to leap-frog local jurisdiction. Earlier that day, Alabama Power and Alabama Power CEO Mark A. Crosswhite objected to discovery and intent for deposition requests by Roberson. In…

The Drummond Saga Gets Thicker at Every Turn; Possible Criminal Indictments?
The Admissions and Denials by Roberson indicate more stones need to be overturned. Last week, we, the CDLU, strongly suggested that Balch & Bingham, Drummond Company and Alabama Power look at the rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Case from a long-term, bird’s-eye, big picture perspective. According to well-read legal blog Legal Schnauzer, Drummond Company dumped a slew of discovery requests on ex-Drummond executive David Roberson. Included in that dump, Drummond hit Roberson with a request for admissions, and the answers appear to be earth shattering. Schnauzer posted some of the admissions and answers, writing: Admit that during your employment…

Robersons Victims Again; Drummond Tries to Stall Rebirth for the Third Time
A desperate move by Drummond? David Roberson originally filed his $75 million lawsuit in the spring of 2019. More than a year and a half later, Judge Tamara Johnson denied Drummond Company’s Motion to Dismiss and their follow-up interlocutory motion. The rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Case has shaken the most powerful players in Alabama. Today, Drummond Company filed a Writ of Mandamus with the Alabama Supreme Court and an Emergency Stay to block discovery and depositions in the most anticipated civil case for 2021. Drummond, which has foolishly tried to cross-dress the coal company as a law firm,…

Drummond, Newsome Conspiracy Case, North Birmingham Bribery Case, Secret Star Chamber, Southern Company, Spotlight on Balch & Bingham
Looking Like Fools on the Path of No Return
We have reviewed the 149 letters of support during ex-Drummond executive David Roberson’s sentencing hearing and nothing compares to psychiatrist Mark J. Mills who evaluated Roberson and wrote: In more than thirty years of full-time forensic practice, I have evaluatednearly 1000 criminal litigants for both the prosecution and the defense (and many civil litigants); unsurprisingly, most were guilty (as determined at trial or plea), some were psychotic, some cognitively impaired, some terminally ill, some intoxicated and some malingering. A few were innocent as determined at trial and a very few, less than a handful, well less than one percent, were…

Balch & Bingham’s Inner Demons
Balch & Bingham’s foolish publicity stunt last week trying to appease their inner demons of alleged racist misconduct and a legacy tied to segregation and racist Alabama Governor George Wallace has blown-up in Balch’s face. Balch’s all-white leadership has failed again. In the two-decades that we, the CDLU, have fought against greedy and unscrupulous businesses, and inept government agencies, we have always found that a handful of bad apples are responsible for the calamities and egregious conduct at those entities. Balch & Bingham is no different. And look at what they have done: The North Birmingham Bribery Scheme was born…

Balch’s Laughable Publicity Stunt Boosts Discrimination
Balch & Bingham reserves the right to discriminate and exclude minority-owned businesses based on unknown requirements and determinations. The public and legal community are roaring with laughter. Embattled law firm Balch & Bingham has launched the biggest publicity stunt since their chicken leg pazoola, and again Balch’s objective of rehabilitating their image is failing miserably. No one believes the firm. Legal Schnauzer, the well-read legal blog, pointed out in a Tuesday post that Balch’s alleged racist conduct went counter to the vision of PNC Bank which is acquiring Balch’s alleged number two client, BBVA USA Bank. Legal Schnauzer pointed out…

Thanksgiving Mystery and the “Third-Man” Testimony
A year ago during Thanksgiving, someone stuffed an envelope into ex-Drummond Executive David Roberson’s mailbox with the explosive photographs of ex-Balch partner and Alabama Power CEO having refreshing cocktails with U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town. The photos eventually helped bring down Town, who resigned in disgrace on July 15th. Now pressure is mounting for Crosswhite, who should have known better, to resign or retire. The photographs have brought misery to Town and “the most powerful man in Alabama.” But what about the third man in the photographs? Mike Cole is a well-respected attorney, who allegedly told his friend Roberson about…

Drag Queens: Drummond Company Cross-Dressing as Law Firm
RuPaul is probably in disbelief that he’s been outperformed. Drummond Company has done one of the greatest acts of cross-dressing in the history of Alabama: the coal company is portraying itself as a law firm. Well-read legal blog Legal Schnauzer predicted correctly last week that Judge Tamara Johnson would reject Drummond’s latest stall and delay tactic, writing: What is that central question Drummond seeks? Whether a corporation, which is not itself a legal services provider, may avail itself of the [Alabama Legal Services Liability Act] statute of limitations where its alleged liability is based on the conduct of its general…

Rebirth May Spur New Indictments
Alabama Today, which broke the stories on Balch & Bingham’s alleged Elderly Exploitation Scandal, dropped this bomb today about the rebirth of the North Birmingham Bribery Scandal: [Burt] Newsome, [ex-Drummond executive David] Roberson’s [civil] attorney, said, “We are confident that the evidence will show that Mr. Roberson was deceived and that criminal activity was concealed from him by both Balch and Drummond, and he first learned about this misconduct at his criminal trial. Furthermore, we believe that the evidence will also show that David Roberson, nor Joel Gilbert either for that matter, received a fair trial and that other indictments…

Erupted! Rebirth of North Birmingham Bribery Case “Shall Commence”
This early morning, Judge Tamara Johnson has denied Drummond Company’s foolish attempt to stall discovery and video depositions writing: “The Court further has considered the fact that discovery was stayed [for over 17 months], pending a ruling on the Defendants’ Motions to Dismiss [which was DENIED on October 30, 2020]. The Court FINDS that any further stay of Discovery in this matter is unwarranted. It is ORDERED that the herein Discovery, for both Parties, is NOT STAYED and shall commence.” The order now means an avalanche of video depositions will begin to take place, and the mountain of documents and…

CDLU Provoked Probe: Ex-CEO of Balch & Bingham Client Charged With Afghan War Contract Fraud
Patience they told us. Patience. CDLU’s letters, faxes, emails, phone calls, and meetings with the Office of the Special Counsel, the U.S. Department of Justice, and FBI since 2017 have finally paid off. This late afternoon, the U.S. Department of Justice released this statement: The former chief executive officer of a U.S. government contractor was charged today in connection with schemes to defraud the U.S. Department of Defense regarding contracts related to U.S. military efforts in Afghanistan. Paul Daigle, 40, was charged with conspiracy, four counts of wire fraud, and four counts of false claims in an indictment filed today…

Drummond, Newsome Conspiracy Case, North Birmingham Bribery Case, Secret Star Chamber, Southern Company, Spotlight on Balch & Bingham
With Neon Lights Shining, Will Biden Administration Target Drummond Company?
For the almost four years that we have been advocating that Balch & Bingham reform themselves top to bottom, we have learned one truth: those closely associated with or defending Balch make the dumbest, most foolish, and poorest decisions at the worst time possible. In the summer of 2017 at the height of two federal investigations of the embattled law firm, Balch stupidly decided to attack us, the CDLU, publicly and seal the entire Newsome Conspiracy Case in an unconstitutional and secretive Star Chamber. Then there was disgraced ex-U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town who foolishly chugged down cocktails with ex-Balch…

Miracle: Baby Natalia’s Transplant a Success
With all the doom and gloom in recent weeks, we share some good, joyful news today. Baby Natalia’s liver transplant was a success and she and mom (the donor) are recovering well. We ask you, our dear readers, to keep Baby Natalia and her mom in your prayers. The unfortunate delay after mom and baby were infected with COVID-19 worried us all, but now we breathe a collective sigh of relief. Above is a photo of Natalia after the transplant. We, the CDLU, are starting a fundraising drive to help pay for Baby Natalia’s medical bills. Feel free to donate…
