Gagging on their Own Lies and Loss of Control

Balch & Bingham appears to be suffering from a loss of control as scandal appears to engulf the  prestigious firm.

On Friday July 21st, there was a flurry of activity in the Burt Newsome conspiracy case according to an alert by Alacourt.com.

The most interesting document is Balch & Bingham’s motion to amend the protective order from May. As readers may recall, the brilliant and esteemed lawyers at Balch lied about us in that open court filing last May 9th.

Appearing to attempt to impose a universal gag order on the media, social media, and the public in general,  the Balch attorneys wrote on Friday that the protective order must be extended because “persons that work with media outlets that have resulted in numerous website posts and social media posts regarding this matter that includes information that is not in the public record of this case and could have only been obtained from one of the parties or their spouses, or counsel in this matter.”

Foolishly, Balch appears to not believe that independent observers, other attorneys, court staff,  and yes, even Balch team members may be possibly discussing the Newsome case and sharing their observations with others, maybe even over a glass of wine, in high voices in Mountain Brook.

Balch & Bingham appears to be suffering from a loss of control as scandal appears to engulf the  prestigious firm.

Besides the U.S. Department of Justice visiting our website, the number one identifiable traffic to our website are other law firms and attorneys. People and lawyers are talking.

Balch attempts to justify this apparent universal gag order by saying  they are worried about “media accounts, especially that include non-public information about a case, can influence and taint the potential jury pool.”

If Balch partners could have only been intelligent enough not to allegedly funnel a $360,000 bribe to corrupt politician Oliver Robinson, if Balch could have only been intelligent enough not to scrub their website of successfully changing Russian sanctions for an alleged Russian-linked aerospace company, if Balch could have only been intelligent enough not to have engaged in alleged questionable subcontracts in Mississippi, if Balch partners could have only been intelligent enough not to be linked to the alleged suppression of African-Americans in the North Birmingham CERCLA matter, then maybe, just maybe there would have been no media accounts influencing the potential jury pool or public in general.
